FAQ
What is an MSP?
MSP stands for “managed service provider”. An MSP is an IT organization that has made the investment in time, money and other resources, along with the commitment to become proficiently talented and affordable in a particular service(s) such that it makes more business sense to partner with that company than to attempt to duplicate their process by using in-house resources or standard outsourcing.
Why is there a 12 month minimum term?
We derive our profits from long term relationships rather than single projects. We set our pricing to be affordable (but profitable) to make it sensible for our clients. Our profits will not be fully realized until the term of the agreement has been completed. Not every MSP works under this philosophy. Here at Get-Covered Managed IT Services, we are very serious about our client relationships and we know the only way to ensure long term partnerships is to make the solution as beneficial to you as it is to us. That’s why you won’t find a more competitive, full featured and guaranteed MSP-based network support program than Get-Covered.
I have a brand new network. Why do I need managed services?
While you are likely enjoying little to no downtime now, a lack of maintenance of your system will undoubtedly eventually lead to poorer performance if not actual downtime. Much like a new car that needs routine fluid and filter changes and tire rotations, a network needs regular attention to prevent compounding issues later. But Get-Covered brings much more to the table than preventive maintenance. You will have a partner who is responsible for your systems performance. You will also have access to consulting services from technicians and engineers that know YOUR system and can provide better and more thorough recommendations than the typical consultant “walking in off the street”.
I have been paying for hourly services as needed. Why should I change now?
Per hour you won’t find a better value than Get-Covered. Our technicians and engineers will invest many hours every month into your network — even when you “seemingly” have had NO problems — to prevent downtime and tune it for optimal performance. Your downtime is more than the bill you receive from your IT service company (even if it is us). Your greatest and most expensive resource is your employees. When they experience a problem requiring an onsite tech, your employee will be down from the time the problem is first realized until the tech leaves your site with the problem resolved. Actual payroll dollars spent on an unproductive employee and lost opportunity with your clients are only a couple of the additional costs to downtime. The intent of managed services is to eliminate downtime where possible and reduce the time to resolution when not. A quality MSP will have the tools, knowledge and skills to arrive onsite (if necessary) with a higher probability to resolve the issue in dramatically less time.
Will you support me without a contract?
Yes. We don’t take our partnerships lightly, so we don’t expect you to. Give us a try and get to know us and our quality service. Then when you are ready, we can discuss the best Get-Covered plan for you.
Is the transition difficult?
We make the transition to MSP service and support VERY easy. We do all the work for you and provide the training for your staff to know how to handle a support issue. During the first few days, we will install our management agents and perform preventive maintenance on all your system hardware. We will familiarize ourselves with your business and how you do what you do and how IT supports your corporate objectives. We will talk to your staff and learn from them. Then our NOC staff will begin running baseline reports to get a snapshot of where your network stands and identify areas needing immediate attention — essentially a built-in full scale network audit. Any critical areas are addressed and a report passed on to you. Next, the standard maintenance regimen begins and the HelpDesk becomes available to your staff. From then on it just gets easier for everyone.
My network is a mess. Will it be expensive to get my systems ready to go on contract?
Partnership is a two-way street. Our very first action with every Get-Covered client is a financial investment in them. Regardless of the condition of their network, we take on the burden of grooming it back to health. This can take many man-hours on-site and from the NOC but because of our MSP philosophy it is to the mutual benefit of you and us.
I have used an MSP before and was not impressed. What makes you so different?
There are a lot of companies jumping on the MSP bandwagon. They subscribe to a few tools and see it as a way to “get a check every month”. Yeah…we’re different. We started our transition to managed services in 2001. The impetus behind our change was the real need we saw, even back then, to help our clients meet their goals with technology…not just fix problems when they called. The whole business model was wrong and it needed to change (see “The case for managed services” on our home page). We took the next 5 years and painstakingly changed our corporate focus and mission. It took commitment and determination but the results have been worth it. While our services are billed monthly, it is so much deeper than that. Our whole philosophy is that when we have the same goals as our client-partners, we all win. That’s why we offer our flat fee guarantee. If you’re down on OUR watch, it’s on OUR clock.
Do you do everything IT?
No. But just as if you had an IT department, we will help you find and evaluate other companies who can bring additional expertise to the table. For the most part, we will be able to handle all your typical needs, but for special software, application development, RFID, point of sale and other “specialty” solutions, we will spend whatever time is necessary to help you find the right solution. Oh, did I mention that we do that for free? That’s right, with every Get-Covered network services and support plan you get unlimited consulting services.
